Our Nativo team were approached by Bdry, a new blow dry bar- a hot concept on the hair salon scene at the moment. Offering just blowouts is no breakthrough, however. The challenge with Bdry was to create a brand identity that stood out among the other cookie-cutter salons. The first step toward doing that was as simple as the color scheme- a grey color palette was chosen as opposed to one featuring a prominent color, as used by most market competitors. The “Wave-B” is also a strong visual element used subtly but powerfully in various collateral material. Overall, this project took 9 months from outset to completion, and since opening has seen large success, garnering attention from local celebrities, bloggers and the media.
My role in the project was design of the logo and complete brand
manual, design of collateral stationery and promotional material,
design and coding of interactive in-salon iPad app, design and
development of Bdry website, art direction and styling for model
photo shoot and consulting for salon interior design and signage.
